Re-thinking the Notion of “Person” Today

Rosaria Caldarone

This paper aims to investigate how the relationship with the Other and the rejection of this often-violent relationship affect the concept of “person”. Starting from Judith Butler’s reading of Adorno, it is possible to rework the Aristotelian notion of “good life” in search of a more inclusive definition of “person”, capable of embracing the concept of “humanity”. In this article, I undertake to show that it is only by understanding the vulnerability of the person that it is possible to re-think the bond between living beings on an ontic level.
