The Challenge of Immigration to the Staying Power of Western Democracies

Fabio Ciaramelli

From a judicial point of view, possible proposals have been put forward aimed at finalizing the integration of masses coming from cultural contexts significantly different from the one characterizing Western society, which has been marked by a conspicuous increase in minorities residing in its territory. Net of two present models (French and English, more widespread than the Belgian/German one) and through the use of Freudian and phenomenological categories of the “strange/foreign” and “own/proper,” this essay proposes to explore the fruitful value of the pre-juridical concept of “a-legality” within an intercultural landscape.
